Bonus points if you have a friend who lives there. Tried and true haunts are what makes NYC a far more welcoming place.

The summers here are glorious, 70 to 80-degrees, pure sunshine and happiness. There's so much to do. The architecture is the perfect juxtaposition of classic and modern, keeping things interesting. The sun goes down around 10pm. The nightlife is exciting and pretty safe, just the right balance of posh and gritty. But the Pacific Northwest can be like an unhealthy relationship: the good times are the best days of your life. The bad times make you want to jump of the Aurora Bridge. It's the unforunate side effect of seasonal affective disorder (or S.A.D.) Save yourself the headache and heartache and have yourself a light, superficial summer fling with Seattle and/or Portland. It's an experience you'll never forget... in a good way.

SXSW says it all. Everyone in the music industry picked this time and place to be to celebrate the who's whos: every year in Austin in March! If you want to avoid those crowds, however, visit in April. Saturday night on Sixth Street is all right for fighting. Warehouse district is a great place to hang your hat, as well as your pinky finger. South Congress is ecclectic and artsy, with just a hint of budding pretention. Duck down to San Antonio, since you're close by. My boyfriend calls it the "Venice of Texas." May is when Schlitterbahn opens, too. Go on a weekday before school's out for summer. No lines! PERFECT weather!

Surprisingly fun nightlife! AMAZING zoo (anyone remember watching Mutual of Omaha's Animal Kingdom on TV when you were a kid?)! Hip vintage and thrift shopping! Great homestyle restaurants like Billyfrogs. Salt-of-the earth, heartwarming locals. STEAK!!! Visit Omaha. It's not near as boring as you think. Not boring at all, actually.

Uh... well, the list is for US cities, but since my boyfriend is from Moscow, I'll let this one slide. I do plan to visit Moscow in Winter '07 to meet his extended family next Xmas holiday, so this is actually useful information! Bowl-shoy spa-seeba, ta-va-rish!

The overwhelming majority of my friends do not have babies. I don't have babies. Everyone else is having as many babies as they can. We're f&*%ed!

Almost as fast as viruses evolve, our immune system evolves. Almost.

Space fights are pure breathless excitement, but if they're not awesome, they're downright horrible.

If you don't like the Rolling Stones, no, LOVE the Rolling Stones, don't even talk to me. You get a cookie if you can tell me what RS song is on what three Scorcese movies!

Is there such a thing as a bad Bill Murray movie? I think not!

I'm especially fond of Stephen Chow's works. A little tired of Jackie Chan. (sigh)
